Kansas Communities That Care Student Survey – View the Survey
Core Survey
The main survey consists of one set of all questions pertaining to Communities That Care Risk and Protective Factors, including sections on:
- Demographics
- School climate
- Peer influences
- Drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage
- Community-based perceptions

It does not contain questions pertaining to family domain, or depression and suicide.
Optional Modules
Districts may elect to include either or both sets of questions below, which are not included in the core survey. All questions are optional for students to respond to at their comfort level.
Family Domain
This module contains 35 questions to determine things like student views of parent attitudes toward drugs and alcohol.
Depression/Suicide
This module contains four questions about depression, and suicide ideation and attempt. It is not a suicide risk assessment or suicide screening tool.

- Format: The survey is available online only. Both English and Spanish versions are available.
- About the survey: The survey is provided by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Behavioral Health Services Commission, and administered by Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center, Research and Evaluation Department.
